The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the registration of all individuals convicted of a crime that requires them to be listed as a sex offender.
To accomplish this, a full time Sex Offender Registrar position was created in our office. This individual receives specialized training to assist him in this duty.
All current offenders that reside in Switzerland County are required to register with the Registrar and meet with him at scheduled intervals. In addition, he is responsible for making “surprise” home visits to verify that an offender is living at his or her registered address. He will also make every effort to ensure that offenders are not participating in social media and abiding by the laws of the State of Indiana.
To facilitate public notification of these convicted offenders, the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office enters all sex offenders into a national database that is available to the public 24 hours a day.
If you have any information that an offender is falsifying their registration information, you are urged to contact the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office Registrar at (812) 427-3636. You can also e-mail the Registrar at emcclellan@scso-in.org
